Utila Bay – Paradise as it was intended

Utila

Paradise as it was intended!  Set out over the turquoise Caribbean waters of Utila Bay, Utila is the perfect place for whatever you’re looking for in a vacation. It can be a relaxing getaway, your home for a week of great diving, and your home for a week of high adventure.

Join us so we can exceed your expectations with personalized service, incredible diving, and five star hospitality!

With a reputation for world-class coral reef diving, it is no wonder Utila attracts divers from the far reaches of the globe. As part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world, Utila enjoys spectacular turquoise water, abundant sea-life and outstanding coral reefs.  Sloping walls on the South side, sheer drop offs on the North, wreck diving and sea mounds just minutes from their harbor, provide you endless diving opportunities. Being centrally located, Utila Lodge is able to provide access to Utila’s entire repertoire of great dive sites.

And let’s not forget the largest fish in the sea! Whale sharks! Utila has long been known as a “hot-spot” for Whale Shark activity due to its proximity to the Continental Shelf and strong upwelling currents.  Their natural migratory and feeding patterns means that these gentle giants are a year round sight in Utila.

There is a local, onsite NGO called the Whale Shark and Oceanic Research Center (WSORC) who host Ocean Safaris. These safaris give guests the opportunity to join the researchers at WSORC on a boat and for the chance of a Whale Shark Encounter where you would be able to snorkel with these magnificent creatures. The Ocean Safaris have also seen dolphins, pilot whales, and even Manta Ray, while searching for Whale Sharks! While none of this is guaranteed, it is an amazing opportunity to have the chance to witness the wonder of the ocean – especially with such a dedicated research team! The Ocean Safari costs $60 per person.

Lion fish hunting?  There is! The cost to go through the workshop and get licensed is $75. This provides you with a spearing workshop, a spear, and an official license to spear in the Bay Islands valid for two years. Currently, the Whale Shark Center provides the workshop and the spear and licensing are processed through the Bay Islands Conservation Association.

Grand Cayman – Cobalt Coast Resort & Reef Divers

Grand Cayman

In June 2019 experience devilishly deep drop-offs, wicked wreck dives and some of the coolest coral in the Caribbean which have made the Cayman Islands a world-class dive destination since scuba divers started scuba diving. With visibility that often seems infinite, the Cayman Islands with 365 dive sites offer some of the best diving in the Caribbean.

Of the three islands, Grand Cayman is the most visited by scuba divers. Grand Cayman’s North Wall plunges deeper than 1800 meters/6000 feet and offers beautiful wall diving with opportunities to see spotted eagle rays and sea turtles. With a turtle farm on Grand Cayman, you can expect to see turtles on just about every dive. You’re also likely to see eagle rays, barracuda, moray eels and, of course, stingrays. You’ll also spot lots of tropical fish such as sergeant majors, parrotfish, damselfish, grunts, butterfly fish, angelfish and yellowtail snappers.

With Reef Divers valet diving, you’ll experience Grand Cayman’s diving like never before. Enjoy Grand Cayman’s fabulous diving – away from the crowds – while you stay at Cobalt Coast Resort. Located in West Bay, Cobalt Coast is at the center of Grand Cayman’s most popular activities – only minutes away from Stingray City, the Cayman Island Turtle Farm, Seven Mile Beach, and within 125 ft. of shore diving the North Wall off their ocean dock.
