Juliet Schooner Sailing and Diving
Lionfish Culling Adventure
The Juliet, a 104 foot three masted schooner, will sail from Miami to remote dive locations in the Bahamas . . . where no one else goes.
The Juliet features six staterooms richly appointed in exotic hardwoods. Four cabins include independent air-conditioning, a sink, at least one porthole, reading lamps and ample closet space. Two Ensuite cabins have full bathrooms. Juliet includes two full bathrooms with private shower and toilet areas and one half bath.
The Juliet departs from Miami making air connections easy. With a Friday return, you can spend a day or two exploring Miami to top off your great dive trip
We start out diving the Bimini Chain routinely traveling to its southernmost island of Orange Cay stopping at abundant dive sites such as Bull Run, Nodules Wall, and Victory Reef to name a few. From Orange Cay we continue south along the edge of the Grand Bahama Bank deep into Santaren Channel. These remote sites are some of our best kept secrets, dove exclusively by Juliet passengers, and host an abundance of life comparable to premier dive destinations around the world.
If you’ve been diving in the Caribbean, Florida, or Bahamas lately you’re aware of a visitor from another ocean – the Pacific Lionfish. Since the early 1990s, Pacific Lionfish have been populating the reefs of Florida and the Caribbean and causing big problems. On Juliet, they make a habit of ridding the oceans of this disastrous fish – and feasting on it afterwards! We have custom spears and Zookeepers – a wide one-way opening container made of hard PVC plastic to protect you from the sharp spines – that easily clips onto your dive gear for loading-up with fish. Try your hand at Lionfish wrangling and back on deck we’ll show you how to safely handle and filet this surprisingly delicious fish. If you’re lucky enough, you might be able to try the whole array of Lionfish delicacies served on board Juliet, including Lionfish ceviche, Lionfish sashimi, seared Lionfish, and Lionfish tacos. Yum!
And, if you slayed your own lionfish, you are eligible to purchase one of the Juliet’s exclusive new Lionfish T-shirts, only available on board and only available if you yourself killed a lionfish!
We’ll do dives on some of the lesser-dove sites like Look-out point, and drift some of the deeper sloping wall dives that the Lionfish tend to love. Look forward to being able to see the entirety of the Tuna Alley system and Victory Reef, and if the weather cooperates we’ll head south for some clean up on the Orange Cay dives. We provide the spears and zookeepers or you are welcome to bring your own (just remember, no trigger mechanism allowed). Whether you are already a Lionfish hunting expert or want to learn how to get into it, all experience levels are welcome.
