The best buddy any diver can have is one who not only knows what to do in the event of an emergency, but knows how to prevent most emergencies from occurring in the first place. What kind of buddy is this? A PADI Rescue Diver. The rescue course gives you these skills plus increases your confidence in your own abilities. It enables you to serve as a safety diver for a wide variety of diving activities, including diver training.

If you've thought about taking the Rescue Course but are a little wary of the level of difficulty and time involved, let me set your mind at ease and introduce you to the latest phase of Rescue Training.  Let's face it, most of us are not Olympic athletes, so we've developed skills to accomplish a rescue that work for everyone...not just the champion swimmers among us!  The secret is developing proper awareness and easy-to-use techniques, not brute strength!

Safety gear is becoming more common at dive sites and on dive boats, so to enhance your training we have both adult and infant CPR mannikins, AED trainers, floating backboards and real oxygen kits for use during the classroom, pool, and open water portions. This helps you learn more realistically and demonstrates how having the proper safety gear can make the process a WHOLE LOT EASIER!  You will also be supplied with your own personal Red Cross pocket mask (also included at no charge, yours to keep) during pool and open water training to provide a simpler, easier, better, more realistic rescue.

This course has 2 classroom and pool sessions of 4 hours each. The open water sessions are completed in one day, usually on a Friday session during one of our weekend local dives at Bredina Springs or Haigh Quarry. Most people agree that, although this is the most challenging of all the diving courses, afterwards you have a great feeling of accomplishment and confidence.

At the completion of this course, you will receive a PADI Rescue Certification Card. Remember the PADI Rescue Certification is only a few steps away from earning your Master Scuba Diver rating. For more information on this prestigious rating please ask you instructor.

CPR/AED, O2, First Aid and Secondary Care Certifications

Our Emergency First Response course is second to none in providing the high level of medical training that rescue diving requires.   Unlike the standard CPR-1st Aid courses you’ll find, EFR training is more comprehensive, more thorough, and contains an oxygen management module that is invaluable for handling diving emergencies.  The EFR course can be completed any time prior to the Rescue open water dives.
