The Highest Recreational Rating in Scuba
Want to go explore a wreck at night…in a drysuit…breathing Nitrox…and navigate your way back to the boat? Better find a Master Diver to buddy up with. How about a deep dive…to locate a lost object…and use a lift bag to bring it back…and photograph the process? An Master Diver will be necessary to plan and execute the dive safely!
Whereas the DIVEMASTER rating signifies a professional level of leadership, group organization, and dive management skills, the MASTER DIVER rating indicate a more self-focused specialization of dive skills. The MSD rating signify an extraordinary level of dive knowledge over a wide range of subjects and high degree of proficiency over an extreme range of diving conditions. Over the course of their diving careers these divers have become specialists in many areas, learned to integrate techniques and skills to accomplish an objective, and logged LOTS of fun dives in the process!
If you're just starting your first scuba class, or if you've been diving for years, the MSD rating is the ultimate goal for all divers. In fact, as soon as you start your Open Water course you are working on your Master Level rating! While you are progressing through the Advanced, Rescue, and Specialty courses you are also completing key portions of the Master program.
To qualify to be an MSD you need to be a PADI Rescue Diver, have completed 5 Specialty diving courses and have logged no less than 50 dives.
